Planting of noise barriers:

We think around the hedge for you.

Nothing is set in stone when it comes to the design of our ewall systems. In addition to stone, we at Ecotec have been focusing for years on sound-absorbing planting for all noise barriers installed.

And for good reason: millions of years ago, Mother Nature laid the foundation – or rather, the roots – for highly efficient sound insulation with plants, which is still state of the art today. And it knows how to inspire us over and over again.

All types of plants.

Juicy green instead of yellow and brown: Not every kind of plant is suitable for the vertical planting of noise barriers. The Ecotec team therefore focuses on regional creepers and climbing plants.

They feature an annual growth rate of between 40 cm and 200 cm, and after just 4 growing seasons they will provide a full cover of noise absorbing greenery.
Here are just a few examples:

Efeu Bepflanzung von Lärmschutzwänden
Ivy
(Hedera helix "Hibernica")
Mauerwein Bepflanzung von Lärmschutzwänden
Wall wine
(Parthenocissus quinqufolia "Engelmanii")
Wilder Wein Bepflanzung von Lärmschutzwänden
Boston Ivy / wild vine
(Parthenocissus tricuspedita)
Clematis
(Clematis vitalba)
Weinrebe Bepflanzung von Lärmschutzwänden
Vines
(Vitis vinifera)

Far less suitable are plants that are visually perfect in gardens or parks, but are rather unsuitable for effective planting of noise barriers (high maintenance / location requirements).
For example:

Kletterrose Bepflanzung von Lärmschutzwänden
Climbing roses
Zier Kiwi Bepflanzung von Lärmschutzwänden
Chinese gooseberries / ornamental kiwi
(Actinidia deliciosa)
Winterjasmin Bepflanzung von Lärmschutzwänden
Winter jasmine
(Jasminum nudiflorum)
Kriechspindel Bepflanzung von Lärmschutzwänden
Evergreen winter creeper
(Euonimus fortunai)

Whichever greenery you choose for your planting plan:
With its many years of expertise, the Ecotec team will be happy to advise you on all relevant site factors such as sun, wind and humidity.

Irrigation & climate change:

A concept full of plus points.

Effective for a better quality of life. Especially in times of rapidly advancing climate change, noise protection with plants is becoming increasingly important. For example, green noise barriers not only bind fine dust and CO2 – they also ensure significant cooling of the ambient temperature through evaporation. A fact that is particularly appreciated by residents of increasingly hot cities.

So it’s only fitting that Ecotec’s ewall irrigation systems have also been developed to be extremely resource-efficient. Here, a self-sustaining irrigation system (SBS) ensures maximum plant growth in an extremely climate-friendly way. This is what we mean by sustainable sound insulation.
